For my second project, I would like to create an interactive environment that would be a type of experience like the museum Meow Wolf. The room would simulate the look of a normal, cookie-cutter bedroom, but as you explore the room further, things begin to seem off. As you interact with your environment, a nightmare-ish scene unfolds around you. This 'create-your-own-nightmare' experience would be equipped with adjusting lights, a T.V. that turns on randomly and switches programs/static, eerie sounds, etc. The goal of this would be to create an experience for the user taking them from a perspective of normal reality and a false sense of security into a differing perspective with unexpected interactions. The point would also be to highlight the fact that many people experience a lot of different emotions, and thoughts in their rooms even though it's the most comfortable and 'safe' place for people to be.
The parts list might be pretty dense, but it goes along the lines of normal electronic components, probably light sensors, force sensors, LEDs, etc.
I may create a smaller model of the actual room in order to fully develop the idea and get the point across while also staying within the time constraint. This would be a lot more efficient cost, material, and time wise.
